  • Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton wins GOP nomination for governor

    MASHANTUCKET -- Mayor Mark Boughton broke the 50% threshold Saturday evening to officially win the Republican nomination for governor.
    Mark Boughton, Tim Herbst and Steve Obsitnik were the three remaining gubernatorial candidates left to nominate as the third ballot was underway. The final tally was Boughton 50.14%, Herbst with 40.86%, and Obsitnik with 9%.
    Senator Joe Markley was also endorsed by Republicans for Lieutenant Governor.

  • Police investigating deadly stabbing in Waterbury

    WATERBURY — Police are investigating a deadly stabbing that happened Saturday afternoon.
    Police responded to the Matson Court around 3 p.m on calls of one person being stabbed.
    Police said that there is limited information at this time but could say that the victim was a woman.
    This remains an active investigation.

    PARIS, FRANCE –One person was killed and four others were wounded during a Saturday night knife attack in Paris, police said.
    Two of the victims were gravely injured and two others were lightly injured, police said

  • Boy, 12, dies after passing out in middle school classroom

    NORTHLAKE, Ill. – Police in the suburban Illinois city of Northlake are conducting a death investigation after a boy passed out in a middle school classroom and later died at the hospital, according to WGN.
    Police say they were called to Northlake Middle School around Friday afternoon for reports of a child passed out in class.
    Joshua Acosta, 12, was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

    COLUMBIA, CT – A man says he was assaulted inside his home yesterday afternoon after two men gained access by posing as salesmen, according to Connecticut State Police.
    Police from Troop K say they were called to a house on Route 87 in Columbia around 3:51 p.m. on Friday. The resident told them two men had rung his doorbell and asked him if he wanted to buy vinyl siding for his home. When he invited them inside, they assaulted him, then fled. He was taken to Windham Hospital for treatment

    INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis woman is dead after her family says she contracted a flesh-eating bacterium while on vacation, according to WXIN.
    The woman’s family said she did not get the right treatment from a local hospital.
