  • Milford emergency crews battle brush fire

    MILFORD — Crews worked Sunday afternoon to extinguish a brush fire in town.
    The fire happened near Wampus Lane. Officials said a homeless encampment was impacted by the fire.
    The fire department fought the blaze for nearly three hours before putting it out.
    Dispatchers said that they believe no people or structures were in danger from the flames.

    HAMDEN – Police have issued a silver alert for a missing 8-year-old girl from Hamden.
    Police said Daisy Elci was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and turquoise short sleeve shirt with a Marilyn Monroe picture on it. She is 4’2″ tall, weighs 70 pounds, and has blonde hair and gray eyes.

    NASHVILLE, TN – Four people were killed and at least two others were shot at a Tennessee Waffle House on Sunday morning, Metro Nashville Police said.
    Police say the gunman was naked except for a green jacket when he opened fire at about 4:25 a.m. ET in Antioch, part of the Nashville area.
    The assailant later shed his jacket, police spokesman Don Aaron said.
    He said a customer intervened. “The man who wrestled the gun away is a hero,” Aaron said.

    NASHVILLE, TN – Three people were killed and four were wounded in a shooting Sunday at a Waffle House in the Nashville area, Metro Nashville Police tweeted.
    Police say the gunman, who was nude, opened fire at about 4:25 a.m. ET.
    CNN affiliate WSMV reported that the gunman was naked except for a green jacket when he entered the restaurant in the town of Antioch.

    A tractor-trailer tried to take a turn and toppled over, tipping its entire load of fish onto a German farmer’s field.

  • Family displaced after Middletown fire destroys home

    MIDDLETOWN --  A family's home was destroyed after a fire broke at 9:00 A.M. on 1580 Bartholomew Road.
    A neighbor noticed that the house next door was on fire and proceeded to call 911.  Nobody was home at the time of the fire.  However, the fire left severe damage to the back of the house which is why it is deemed uninhabitable by the Middletown Building Department.

    EAST HAVEN — A police car chase ended with arrests of two people who had allegedly had stolen a car.
    Late Thursday evening, East Haven police were told by New Haven Police about a pursuit of a stolen car on I-91 north. New Haven Police gave up chase after the car reached East Haven town lines.
