  • Commuter parking lot in Vernon closed to leaking propane tank

    VERNON —  A leaking propane tank caused a commuter parking lot to be closed Tuesday.
    Police said emergency crews responded around noon time when a contractor was changing out propane tanks with crane and one slipped and cracked. There was no access to  the other cars in parked in the DOT lot for several hours.
    The tank had nearly a 1,000 gallons of fuel in it.  Crews transferred the gas into another container.

    BOSTON — Italian casual dining chain Bertucci’s has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and closed 15 restaurants.
    The Northborough, Massachusetts-based chain said Monday it made the move “to position Bertucci’s for future growth.”
    Fifty-nine locations in 10 states and Washington remain open.
    The company said Connecticut locations in Southington, Orange and Buckland Hills in Manchester were closing.

  • Delays expected in North Haven due to road maintenance

    NORTH HAVEN — Delays are expected Wednesday as crews will be doing maintenance on a railroad overpass.

    CBS Local — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a new invention that may make wearing sunglasses a thing of the past.

    EL CAJON, Calif. –KSWB -- A driver escaped injury Monday night when her car was nearly swallowed by a sinkhole that formed after a water main break in El Cajon.
    The water main broke below the roadway on North Johnson Avenue near Vernon Way at 8:37 p.m., according to El Cajon police.

    MIDDLEBURY — A two car collision has left one person dead and another in critical condition.
    The accident happened Monday night, just after 10 p.m. Officials are still on scene investigating the crash.

    GUILFORD —  Police have issued a Silver Alert for Paul Lancaster, 92, who is said to be missing from Guilford.
