  • Police ID Colchester man killed in Portland crash

    HARTFORD — A Colchester man was the victim of a fatal one-car crash in Portland early Thursday morning.
    Police said that at around 2:30 a.m., there was a crash on route 66.
    Police said a black 2017 Honda Accord driven Joshua Ogden, 26 was involved in the crash.
    Police said Ogden was treated on scene and taken to Middlesex Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries
    The cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 860-342-2541.

    BOSTON — Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving will need surgery on his left knee and miss the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
    The team said Thursday his recovery time will be three to four months.
    In the upcoming surgery, two screws will be removed. They were implanted after his patellar fracture during the 2015 NBA Finals. Irving recently developed an infection at the site of the screws, and now they must be taken out.

    MERIDEN — The former director of an animal shelter has settled a lawsuit with a volunteer who was attacked by her pet dog.
    The Record-Journal reports that former Meriden Humane Society Director Marlena DiBianco reached a settlement Monday with Marlene Wall for more than $362,000. The payment will come from DiBianco’s homeowner’s insurance provider.

    TOLLAND — One person was injured in a single-car crash Wednesday night.
    The crash occurred near the corner of Mile Hill Road and Cedar Swamp Road just before 10:30 PM.

    A Life Star chopper was requested to the scene to transport a victim with suspected serious injuries, however, due to intense high-altitude winds, the helicopter was unable to fly.
