    BLOOMFIELD —  Bloomfield Police Department said a bomb threat at Jacob’s Vehicle Systems at 22 East Dudley Town Road, prompted an evacuation Tuesday afternoon.

  • Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu hospitalized with fever

    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital on Tuesday due to a high fever and coughs, according to a statement from his office.
    The statement said the Prime Minister’s personal physician thinks Netanyahu did not complete the period of rest needed for full recuperation since his illness two weeks ago, and his symptoms worsened.
    Netanyahu will undergo a number of tests at the hospital.

    EAST HADDAM —  State police said a death Friday in an East Haddam neighborhood has been ruled a homicide.
    Officials said Sandra Kalosky, 56, was found dead in her home at 206 N. Moodus Rd.
    Police said they responded to around 5:20 p.m. Friday.  Detectives from Eastern Major Crime also responded and have taken charge of the investigation.

    BRIDGEPORT — A former Connecticut narcotics detective charged with stealing drugs from the department’s evidence room for personal use has pleaded guilty to reduced charges.
    The Connecticut Post reports that former Fairfield Detective Stephen Rilling pleaded guilty last week to two counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of computer crime. He received a one-year sentence suspended with three years’ probation.

    WATERFORD — The Waterford Police Department says that the Clark Lane Middle School in Waterford has issued a shelter in place after a teacher found a single rond of ammunition in a classroom.
    The incident happened just after 10:00 a.m. when the teacher told the administration they found the round of ammunition.
    The school then went into a lockdown protocol, and administration contacted police.
    Police are currently investigating. There is no immediate threat to student safety.

    LANSING, MI — Larry Nassar’s former boss at Michigan State University has been charged with one felony count of misconduct in office, according to court documents.
    William Strampel, the former dean of MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, is also charged with three additional misdemeanor charges: one charge of fourth-degree criminal sexual misconduct and two charges of willful neglect of duty, court documents state.

    NEW HAVEN  — Police say they caught a suspected burglar snoozing inside a Connecticut home.
    Officers responded to the break-in around 7 a.m. Sunday in New Haven. The homeowner wasn’t inside at the time, but she watched the suspect through a surveillance system.
    Police say they found the 27-year-old suspect sleeping on the living room sofa.
    He has been charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal trespass.

  • Hamden woman arrested for stealing vacuum cleaner

    MILFORD– A Hamden woman is facing charges after Milford police say that she stole a vacuum cleaner.
    In August 2017, they said she left the Milford Walmart on Boston Post Road with a vacuum cleaner valued at $94.
    Milford police issued a warrant for Crystal Boothroyd, 32.
    She was arrested Wednesday and charged with petty theft.
    She is due in court on April 17th, 2018.

    TULUM, Mexico — An Iowa couple and their two children died from inhaling toxic gas while vacationing in Mexico, local authorities said.
    The bodies of Kevin Wayne Sharp; his wife, Amy Marie Sharp; their son, Sterling, 12; and daughter Adrianna, 7, were discovered Friday at a rental condominium in the beach town of Tulum.
