  • Groton police investigate untimely death

    GROTON — Police are investigating an untimely death from Friday morning that happened at a Ramada Inn.
    At 7:24 a.m. police responded to the Inn on calls of a person not breathing. Officers and EMS found the woman and was declared dead at the scene by EMS workers.
    Police are investigating the case as an untimely death and are being assisted by State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London State’s Attorney’s Office.

    BRIDGEPORT — Firefighters were called to a fire in the 200 block of Federal Street just before 11:30 this morning. The fire quickly went to a 2nd and then a 3rd alarm as heavy fire erupted from the second floor of the 2-family home.

  • 14 people displaced in 3-alarm Bridgeport house fire

    BRIDGEPORT -- Almost fifteen people were displaced Saturday morning when a fire broke out at a two-story home.
    Firefighters responded to a house on Federal Street on calls of building consumed in flames. Firefighters on the scene said there was heavy fire on the second and third floor.
    Due to the severity of the fire, a second and third alarm  was called in response.  Fire Departments from Milford, Stratford, and Fairfield all responded to the scene.
