  • All Connecticut State Troopers To Have Body Cameras This Year

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) — The new commander of the Connecticut State Police expects all troopers to be using body cameras by the end of the year, two years after they were supposed to begin using them under state law.Col. George Battle talked about body cameras, his priorities and other issues in an interview with The Associated Press this week. Battle, a 30-year state police veteran, began his new job March 1, succeeding Col. Alaric Fox, who left to become police chief in Enfield.

    (Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio) – The state judicial branch says it’s computer system is down after it was infected by ransomware this morning.
    In a statement, officials say they took steps to contain the infection once they detected the ransomware.
    No private information was released and no data breached or files lost, say officials.
    The department is working with it’s vendor in securing an updated security file.

    GROTON, Conn. (WTIC and AP) – A man police say was driving a vehicle stolen out of Vermont when he caused a fatal crash during a high-speed police chase in Connecticut is now facing a manslaughter charge.

    (Wethersfield, Conn./WTIC Radio) – The state Department of Labor is out with its monthly jobs report for January.
    Andy Condon, the director of the department’s office of research, says Connecticut saw an increase in non-farm jobs to the tune of 3,400 for the month.
    Unemployment remained unchanged at 4.5-percent.
    Condon says the January numbers are a little late due to the annual benchmark revision which replaces monthly sample data with more concrete figures.

    (Norwalk, Conn./WTIC Radio) – Norwalk police have made an arrest in an eight year old homicide investigation.
    It was February 3, 2010, they say, when city resident Karl Savage was found shot to death near Nathan Ely School.
    Now, police are charging 33-year-old David McBride of Bridgeport with murder.
    McBride was arrested Thursday.
    His bond was set at $500,000.
