• 1 person dead after falling into water near Guilford Yacht Club

    Guilford — Coast Guard officials have confirmed that one person is dead after they fell near the Guilford Yacht Club Saturday afternoon.
    Officials said eight people were in a barge on the Long Island Sound when it capsized around 2:30 p.m. Guilford Fire accounted for seven people and began to search for the eighth.
    The Coast Guard  assisted in the search for the missing person.
    One body was found by Guilford Police, which was confirmed to the be the missing boater.

    NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — A newly unsealed arrest warrant says a University of Connecticut scientist charged with killing her professor husband wrote in her journal that it was self-defense.

    HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut state Treasurer Denise Nappier says she is open to reviewing whether the state should keep investments it has in gun companies.
    Nappier was asked last week by Democratic state Sen. Gayle Slossberg, of New Milford, to identify the state’s holdings in gun makers and the process to divest.

    (Stamford, Conn./WTIC Radio) – Friday’s nor’easter may be to blame for a fatal crash in Stamford.
    State Police say around 1:30 p.m. a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Jonathan Melendez of Hawthorne, New Jersey was struck by a large, falling tree on the Merritt Parkway in Stamford.
