    CBS Local — Instant Pot is telling owners of the kitchen appliance company’s Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker to stop using several models of the product. The company issued the warning after a “small number” of cookers reportedly overheated.

  • DPH: 20 More Connecticut Flu Deaths

    (Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio) – The state Department of Public Health reports an additional 20 flu deaths for the week ending last Saturday.
    Numbers released today show the total number of deaths due to the flu this season now stands at 97.
    Nearly 2,000 patients have been hospitalized so far this season. There have been over 6,200 confirmed cases of the flu, DPH said.
    Of the 97 who have died, 78 were over the age of 65. There have been two pediatric flu deaths this season in Connecticut.

    WATERFORD  — Connecticut police are investigating a single-car crash on Interstate 395 that killed a 23-year-old man.
    State police say the wreck happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes near exit 2 in Waterford.
    Troopers say a car driven by Stephen Wilmot, of Uncasville, went off the road and struck a rock face. Authorities say the car then went back across the road and collided with a metal guard rail before stopping in the median.
