    (CBS Connecticut) — At the state Capitol, lawmakers and representatives of the clean energy industry today called for the restoration of some or all of $175-million worth of state energy efficiency funds.
    The money was swept out of the funds to help balance the state budget.
    General Assembly Energy and Technology Committee Co-chair Lonnie Reed says she is hoping to alter state law, to make it more difficult to use energy efficiency for other purposes in the future.

    HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Immigrant students without legal status in the United States are again urging Connecticut legislators to make them eligible for institutional financial assistance at state-run colleges and universities.
    This marks the fifth year that legislation has been proposed to make immigrant students eligible for financial aid funded by tuition payments from all students. Opponents have said the bill sends the wrong message.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC and AP) – A labor union has withdrawn a petition to represent some Yale University graduate students after years of organizing efforts.
    Yale officials say they were notified by Local 33-UNITE HERE on Monday that the union was withdrawing its petition to the National Labor Relations Board to represent student teachers in eight of the 56 departments in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

    Canadian pairs skater Meagan Duhamel — a two-time world champion — rescued her mini-dachshund Moo-tae from a South Korean meat farm last February. Working with the non-profit Free Korean Dogs, Duhamel adopted the two-year-old while she was in the country for Olympic trial runs.

    BRISTOL, Conn. (WTIC and AP) – A University of Connecticut scientist was arraigned Tuesday on charges that she murdered her husband, a UConn doctor whose body may have been left inside their home since June.
    Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi, 70, declined comment as she entered Bristol Superior court for the hearing on a murder charge in the beating death of 84-year-old Dr. Pierluigi Bigazzi. He was a professor of laboratory science and pathology at UConn Health, and she worked with him.

    The university is announcing the schedule for the coming season, which begins with a Thursday night clash with UCF at Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.
