    Rainfall totals has averaged between 1-2 inches across the state this evening with the last band of steady rain  into central and eastern areas.   The steady rain has tapered to drizzle across western areas with a lull across PA and NY.  However, there is one last band of rain showers in western PA and NY that will cross the area late this evening before clearing out after midnight.

    HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – A 41-year-old Norwalk man faces sentencing for failing to pay income tax on more than $1 million he received by running off-shore sports gambling websites.

  • Water main break closes East Brook Mall

    MANSFIELD — A water main break has forced the East Brook Mall to close Sunday.
    The mall announced the closing around 2 p.m. on their Facebook page.
    They gave no indication when the mall will reopen.
    The mall is located just off Rt. 6 near the Windham town line.

    Ticket prices at Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in California are increasing.
    According to Disney, the prices will take effect Sunday.
    One-day regular park tickets at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will go up $4, to $119. At Disneyland, regular, one-day, one-park tickets will be $117; a $7 increase.
    Annual passes are also increasing in price. For non-Florida residents, a platinum pass went from $779 to $849.

  • Oxycontin maker to stop promoting the opioid to physicians

    STAMFORD — The company that makes Oxycontin will stop promoting it to physicians on Monday.
    Stamford based Purdue Pharma also said over the weekend that it’s cutting its sales force in half.
    The move came after Purdue and other drug makers faced a string of lawsuits from state and local governments.
    Oxycontin is a highly addictive opioid.
    And some lawsuits accused Purdue of downplaying its risks, while overstating its benefits as a painkiller.

    HARTFORD — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is calling for a review of how voting by mail might be implemented in Connecticut.The Democrat has signed an executive order requiring the Office of Policy and Management to review potential methods and requirements to allow voting by mail for all local, state and federal elections in Connecticut.

    MOSCOW — All 71 people aboard a Saratov Airlines plane died when the plane crashed southeast of Moscow on Sunday, Russian state news agency Tass reported.
