    BRIDGEPORT  — A Connecticut woman who operated an unlicensed day care out of her home has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for killing a 4-month-old boy by giving him an overdose of Benadryl.
    Carol Cardillo was sentenced Thursday in Bridgeport Superior Court. She pleaded no contest to a manslaughter charge in November in connection with the death of Adam Seagull, of Shelton, in March 2016. She had faced up to five years in prison.

    SOUTH KOREA — At least 39 people have died and more than 70 were injured in a hospital fire in South Korea’s southeastern city of Miryang Friday, according to local authorities.
    The blaze broke out in the emergency room on the first floor of Sejong Hospital, said Choi Man-woo, the head of Miryang Fire Department. Eight of those injured remain in a serious condition.
    The fire was extinguished at 10:26 local time and a search of the building was underway.

    SOUTH KOREA — At least 31 people have died and more than 60 were injured in a hospital blaze in South Korea’s southeastern city of Miryang, according to local authorities.
    The fire broke out in the emergency room on the first floor of Sejong Hospital, said Choi Man-woo, the head of Miryang Fire Station.
    Ten of those injured were in a serious condition, he said.
    Local fire station officials told Reuters the situation was developing quickly and the number of casualties could climb.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ New Haven officials have issued a public health alert after four people overdosed on drugs within a one-hour period.
