    PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTIC) – A burst sprinkler pipe evacuated the AMC Plainville 20 theaters for a time Saturday afternoon, said fire officials.
    No injuries were reported in the incident, which was reported shortly before 2 p.m.
    Repairs were completed and the theater reopened before 4 p.m., according to a theater official.

    BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTIC and AP) – Authorities say a 66-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Bridgeport.
    Police tell The Connecticut Post that Nathaniel Dubose was walking Friday evening when he was hit by a silver or grey car. Police say the driver fled and remained at large on Saturday.
    Police spokesman Av Harris says Dubose was Bridgeport’s 10th traffic-related death this year.
    Police are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact authorities.

  • Water pipe burst at Plainville movie theater causes evacuation

    PLAINVILLE — Police and Firefighters responded to the AMC theater for calls of a pipe burst Saturday afternoon.
    Police said they received the calls of the burst around 1:55 p.m to New Britain Avenue.
    The building was evacuated as firefighters work to clean of the spill.
    No injuries have been reported.
    The theater was reopened sometime after 4 p.m.

    PORTLAND -- Remember to take good care of your pets during these sub-freezing temperatures and keep an eye out for any strays or abused animals.   One cat used one of his nine lives in Portland today, but the rest were spared. The cat doesn’t have a name yet, but you might call him ‘Lucky’ – he was found Tuesday night in Portland, abandoned in a pet carrier, clinging to life in the cold.

    MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTIC) – Manchester police are investigating a shooting at a restaurant at the Plaza at Buckland Hills.
    A male employee of the Bonchon Chicken restaurant at 1540 Pleasant Valley Road was shot around lunchtime Saturday, according to police.
    There was no immediate word on the condition of the victim, who was taken to a local hospital. The suspect fled the scene.
    Police say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

    BERLIN – Crews battled a 2-alarm fire at the Mount Royal Inn  this morning.
    The fire was reported about 8:50 this morning. The Berlin Turnpike (Route 5) northbound was closed at Tollgate Road while firefighters doused the flames.     William Pollock was driving his truck when he collided into the back of a box truck. His truck became entangled in the truck he hit so both vehicles pulled over.
    Pollock was conscious and alert and exited his vehicle, but soon thereafter became unresponsive and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital and pronounced dead.

    (SIMSBURY,Conn./WTIC News) – Fire investigators in Simsbury say the Thursday morning barn fire at Folly Farm which killed 24 horses started accidentally.Simsbury fire marshal Kevin Kowalski says the fire likely started in an electrical outlet used for portable heaters for the barn.He says it appears the fire had been smoldering for several hours before it was spotted and reported.

    (HARTFORD,Conn./WTIC News) – Hartford Police are mourning the loss of Sergeant Liam Pesce, who died suddenly Thursday night.Pesce had been a member of the department since 2004 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2012.
    In a statement Deputy Chief Brian Foley said Pesce’s “friendly demeanor and professionalism will be missed by all”
