• 800 Windsor residents without power after car crash

    WINDSOR — Almost eight hundred people were without power Monday afternoon until evening due to a tree taking down power lines.
    Around 1:50 p.m., police responded to a car accident on Poquonock Avenue. Police said the car struck a tree, which caused the tree to pull down power lines.
    An Eversource spokesman said that almost eight hundred people were initially without power but they hope to have all power restored by 6 p.m. tonight.

  • 1 woman arrested in connection with Stratford stabbing

    STRATFORD — One woman is in police custody after she was arrested for allegedly stabbing another person Sunday.
    Late on Christmas Eve, officers were sent by dispatch to Greenfield Avenue to reports of a stabbing.
    Police said that Karalyn Mikucionis, 27, arrived at the house, punched a woman in the face and then stabbed a man in the chest.
    Both victims were taken to Bridgeport Hospital. There was a child present at the house but was unharmed during the incindent.

    (STAMFORD,Conn./WTIC News) – Stamford Police have arrested a woman in connection with a Christmas Eve stabbing on Greenfield Avenue.
    Investigators say 27 year old Karalyn Mikucionis arrived at a home just before 11:30 pm, punched a female victim and then stabbed a male in the chest.

  • Public Asked To Comment On Connecticut Transportation Plan

    HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The public has an opportunity to comment on a long-range transportation plan for Connecticut.
    The Department of Transportation has scheduled two public information meetings at the agency’s headquarters in Newington on Jan. 16. A draft of the Connecticut Statewide Long-Range Transportation Plan will be presented from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A Yale University program that helps employees buy homes in designated areas of New Haven has been extended through 2019.
    Yale says a total of 1,221 faculty and staff members have taken advantage of the program. It was introduced in 1994 to help boost some of the less affluent neighborhoods in its home city.
    Yale trustees voted at a meeting this month to renew the program for another two-year phase.

    As of 7:30 this morning, troopers had reported 329 crashes, 38 with injury.

    HARTFORD — Hartford Police are investigating after a person stole a car with a child inside.
    On Sunday, around 6 p.m., a woman called 911 to report her car stolen. She was inside the laundromat at 1880 Main Street to wash clothes. She told police that she could see her car as she took her clothes out, but then she looked back up and noticed her car was gone.

    (Hartford, CONN. / CBS Connecticut)– A car was stolen from a Hartford laundromat with a child inside on Christmas Eve, according to police.
    A woman left her one-year old nephew sleeping in the car when she went into the laundromat at 1880 Main Street to wash clothes around 6 p.m. As she took her clothes out and looked up, the car was gone. She immediately called police, who tracked down the car with the unharmed child inside at 101 Pliny Street about 40 minutes later.

  • Old Saybrook fire crews battle Christmas Eve fire

    OLD SAYBROOK — The Old Saybrook Fire Department was dispatched at 10:18 p.m. to a home at Pettipaug Avenue in the Fenwick section of town. A fire alarm had gone off, as well as a report of smoke.
    When crews arrived, fire was found in the walls adjacent to the chimney from the first to third floors.

    NORWICH – Nearly six months after a deadly crash in Norwich, Connecticut State Police have made an arrest.
    The June 25th crash killed 25 year old Benjamin St. Pierre of Enfield.  Today police arrested 23-year old Victoria Berube of Suffield. They say she was driving the car that St. Pierre was in, heading north on I-395 when she struck another vehicle, crossed over two travel lanes and went through a metal rail and crashed into a cement bridge support.
