• Conviction In Fake Check Scheme That Took In Almost $1-million

    (CBS Connecticut) — A man who lived in Middletown and Windsor was recently convicted of running a nearly $1-million fake check scheme.
    Walter Glenn was tried in Louisiana.
    In addition to the money lost by retailers who cashed the checks, the people whose checks were forged had their credit rating damaged, and faced possible investigation.
    Hartford Police Department Detective Jaeger Thomas says the organization recruited homeless, or down-on-their luck people who cashed fake checks.

  • Arrest In Fatal Waterbury Hit-And-Run

    WATERBURY, Conn. (WTIC) – Waterbury police have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian earlier this month.
    Milton Gooch, 80, was arrested Wednesday on charges of evading responsibility and illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under suspension, said police.
    The crash, December 12 in the area of 936 Cooke Street, claimed the life of 75-year-old Geraldine Lapio.
    Gooch was arraigned Wednesday in Waterbury Superior Court.
