    STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — A man who authorities say fled the U.S. on the last day of his 2001 trial on attempted murder charges has appeared in a Connecticut court.
    The Stamford Advocate reports Frantz Barthelemy pleaded not guilty Friday to failure to appear in court. He remains held in lieu of $250,000 cash.
    The 39-year-old Frantz had been on trial for charges of attempted murder, attempted first-degree assault with a gun and a weapons offense.

  • Road reopened in Torrington following collision involving car and plow truck

    TORRINGTON — Firefighters responded to 112 Burr Mountain Road Saturday afternoon for calls of a crash.
    The collision involved a pedestrian’s car and a DOT plow truck.
    FOX61’s Michael Howard in the field, spoke to eyewitnesses at the scene.  Witnesses said that the pedestrian’s car was coming down the road when it seem to have lost control and slid into the plow truck which was traveling up the road.
    Police said there are minor injuries. The road was reopened sometime

  • Man guilty in deadly crash asks judge if he can join Marines instead of going to prison

    CLAREMORE, Okla. – One of two brothers convicted in a deadly hit-and-run crash asked a judge if he could join the Marines Corps instead of serving jail time.
    Gage Shriver, now 21, Dakota Shriver, now 23, were convicted in September for the deadly crash.

  • TT Carrying Chickens Tips Over On Highway

    (Southbury, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – A crash in Southbury on Interstate 84 involving a tractor trailer shut down the right lane early this morning.
    The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes near exit 13 around 6:00 a.m. and State Police say that rig was loaded with about 5,000 live chickens.
    The driver sustained minor injuries.
    In addition to the chickens, crews had to deal with a fuel leak.
    No word yet what caused the crash.

    ELLPORT, Pa. – An 85-year-old Pennsylvania man fatally shot a would-be robber at his home early Friday morning, according to WPXI.
