  • Woman severely burned after pouring gasoline on bonfire

    FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A New Jersey woman is in an induced coma after suffering significant burns, according to her family.
    Taylor Lanthier, 28, was burned after pouring gasoline on a bonfire at approximately 3 a.m. while at a home in Franklin Township.  While pouring, the fire spread up into the can, causing it to explode, police told NJ.com.
    After the incident, Lanthier was transported to the burn treatment center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania.

    WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) – Police say a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian before fleeing the scene faces charges in Waterbury.
    The Republican-American reports that Victor Paez was arraigned Monday in Waterbury Superior Court on charges of driving without a license and felonyevading responsibility.

    Police say the victim, who was in his 70s, was hit in Waterbury late Sunday afternoon.

    MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A Minnesota woman with Down syndrome won awards and national attention after competing in the Miss Minnesota USA Pageant over the weekend.
    Mikayla Holmgren, 22, is the first woman with Down syndrome to compete in the pageant.

  • State Police Release Holiday Traffic Stats

    (Middletown, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – State Police saw an uptick in speeding violations and investigated more crashes during the recently concluded Thanksgiving holiday period over last year.
    Troopers say the holiday enforcement netted 1,010 speeding citations this year when compared to the 896 handed out last year.
    Also, they reported 524 crashes from 12:01 Wednesday morning to midnight on Sunday. Last year, there were 392 crashes investigated.

    HARTFORD — Glastonbury Police say they’ve arrested Kevin Reid, 27, of Hartford, after a carjacking investigation led to him.
    Police say on September 27th, Glastonbury Police received a 911 call from a victim at the Tannery Apartments located at 917 New London Turnpike.
