    MIDDLETOWN — State Police have released the annual holiday statistics regarding the traffic violations, arrests, and fatal crashes.
    The increased patrols began at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, 11/22/2017, and will conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday 11/26/2017. Troopers are patrolling the roads and highways across Connecticut focusing on drunken driving violations and aggressive drivers.

  • Engine problem causes emergency landing at Oxford airport

    OXFORD — An engine problem caused an emergency landing Sunday afternoon at Waterbury -Oxford Airport.
    Kathleen Bergen of the FAA said in an email, “A Cirrus SR22 aircraft landed safely at Waterbury-Oxford Airport at 4 pm today after the pilot declared an emergency and reported a possible engine problem when the aircraft was two miles west of the airport.  The pilot had been practicing takeoffs and landings before the emergency.”
    No injuries were reported.

    The US Navy on Saturday identified three sailors who went missing after their plane crashed into the Philippine Sea as Lt. Steven Combs, Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Airman Matthew Chialastri and Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Apprentice Bryan Grosso.
    The Navy ended the search and rescue mission for the sailors on Thursday. They were aboard a C2-A Greyhound transport plane that crashed into the ocean southeast of Okinawa a day earlier.

    MIDDLETOWN, NY — Two people were reportedly injured in a Middletown mall Sunday afternoon, a New York State Police spokesperson said.
    People on scene tweeted the Galleria Mall has been evacuated according to WPIX. They say the shooting happened inside an American Eagle.
    No information was immediately available on the victims.
    Police have not reported any arrests. A New York State Police trooper confirmed the mall is being evacuated.
