    CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut police say a driver was under the influence when he crashed into an unoccupied state police cruiser as troopers were investigating a fatal crash that occurred hours earlier at the scene.
    At around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, a crash on Interstate 91 in Cromwell left a 50-year-old driver dead after he veered off the highway and hit trees.

  • Court rejects man’s appeal in 2012 drug deal killing

    HARTFORD – – A man convicted of killing another man during a suspected drug deal five years ago has lost another appeal.
    Joseph Walker was found guilty in 2014 in the May 2012 shooting of 28-year-old David Caban during a suspected crack deal in front of Caban’s Waterbury home. Prosecutors alleged Walker and an accomplice had planned to rob Caban.

    LISBON — Police responded to River Road for a report of a deceased body that had been located in the woods.
    Police said that received calls of the untimely around 1:40 p.m. Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime responded to the scene and now lead the investigation.

    CROMWELL — Connecticut State Police are investigating  a major accident in Cromwell Saturday morning that resulted in one fatality.
    The accident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. The entrance ramp to I-91 at exit 21 was shut down while the investigation was underway, but the was is cleared by around 7 a.m. and the  entrance ramp was reopened.

    CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, NY — A woman walking her dogs near her western New York home was fatally shot Wednesday by a man who told police he mistook her for a deer.
    Rosemary Billquist, 43, was hit by a bullet from a single-shot pistol fired by neighbor Thomas B. Jadlowski, said Sgt. Josh Ostrander of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

    HADDAM — First responders were called to the scene of a serious ATV accident in Haddam.
    Valley Shore Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call reporting the accident Friday evening.
    An ATV crashed in the area of 150 Rock Landing Road in Haddam.
    The Haddam Neck Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and found the victim unconscious.
    Lifestar was requested to the scene, and the victim was airlifted and taken to Hartford Hospital.

  • Two juveniles arrested in Wethersfield after string of car break-ins

    WETHERSFIELD — Wethersfield Police say they’ve arrested two juveniles following a rash of car break-ins.
    Police say around 4 a.m. Friday on Coppermill Road, a resident noticed two cars traveling slowly down the road.
    Two people could be seen exiting the cars and heading for the parked cars along the street. The witness suspected the people were breaking into cars and immediately notified police.
