  • Hamden firefighters battle house blaze, occupants out of state

    HAMDEN — A fire broke out at a home at 132 Shepard Avenue in Hamden in the late afternoon.
    Officials say the initial report was made just before 5 p.m.

    Firefighters have since brought the fire under control.
    The people who lived in the home were out of state at the time and no injuries were reported.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A tentative settlement has been reached in a ninth and final brutality lawsuit against a former Enfield police officer.
    Federal court records filed this week revealed the preliminary deal between former officer Matthew Worden and the mother of alleged brutality victim Tyler Damato. Terms were not disclosed.

    (Shelton, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Shelton police say a man was seriously injured when he was thrown off a bridge in the wee hours this morning.
    Officers say they and Shelton Fire Department resonded to the Derby-Shelton Bridge around 1:00 a.m. on a report of a man in the water.
    Upon arrival, they found the 30-year-old victim from Monroe submerged in the water.
