  • Wells Fargo illegally repossessed another 450 service members’ cars

    Wells Fargo has uncovered another 450 service members who had their vehicles illegally repossessed by the bank. That brings the total to more than 860.
    The Department of Justice on Tuesday said Wells Fargo agreed to pay an additional $5.4 million for the illegal vehicle seizures.
    Federal law requires banks to get a court order before repossessing a car from members of the military. The DOJ previously charged Wells Fargo in September 2016 with illegally seizing 413 cars owned by service members.

    LOS ANGELES — A woman accused Minnesota Democratic Sen. Al Franken on Thursday of groping her and kissing her without her consent in 2006 while she was on a USO Tour overseas.

    BOLTON, Conn. (AP) — An election for the governing board of a small Connecticut town has been decided by a coin toss.
    The Journal-Inquirer reports that Republican Michael Eremita on Tuesday kept his seat on Bolton’s five-member Board of Selectmen with a coin-toss win over Democratic challenger Kim Miller.

    HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – A 37-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter shortly after his trial began in Connecticut.
    The Hartford Courant reports Shadeed Islam, of Hartford, entered his plea Tuesday after the prosecutor rested his case. Islam pleaded guilty under the Alford doctrine, which means he does not agree with the prosecutor’s evidence but acknowledges there is enough to convict.

    (Hartford, CONN./ CBS Connecticut)–Police are investigating after two attempted child abductions were reported near a Connecticut school.
    Authorities say both attempts happened around E.B. Kennelly School in Hartford when buses dropped students off. The first happened Sept. 22 around 3 p.m., and the second was reported around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
