    Twitter is about to get more words — a lot more.
    The company announced on Tuesday it is doubling how many characters users can cram into a tweet.
    Most tweets will now fit 280 characters, up from 140. The new limit will roll out to Twitter users in almost all 40 languages Twitter supports.

    FLORIDA –Pitcher Roy Halladay, who won two Cy Young awards and more than 200 major league baseball games during a stellar career, died Tuesday in a plane crash off the Florida coast, authorities said.
    Halladay, 40, was the only person on the two-seater plane that crashed just off Holiday, on Florida’s Gulf coast north of the Tampa Bay area, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said.

    STORRS, Conn. (AP) — UConn women’s soccer coach Len Tsantiris is retiring after 37 seasons and 570 wins.
    Tsantiris, whose win total is second in the women’s game behind North Carolina’s Anson Dorrance, took over the program in its infancy in 1981. He announced his retirement Tuesday.
    He led the Huskies to 31 NCAA Tournaments, including 26 straight between 1982-2007, and four appearances in the NCAA championship game.
    He was the 1997 Division I National Coach of the Year.

    SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas — A 2012 police report says that the Texas church gunman had made death threats against his military superiors and had been caught trying to sneak firearms onto an Air Force base in New Mexico where he had been stationed.

    BROOKFIELD, Conn. (AP) – Police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian in Brookfield and then took off.
    A Brookfield woman was killed in Monday’s crash, which happened around 6:10 p.m. Police say they don’t know the kind of car involved, but say it would likely have damage to the front fender, hood and windshield.
