    SEATTLE (AP) — A Washington city can proceed with its lawsuit seeking to hold the maker of the pain medication OxyContin liable for damages to the community, a federal judge ruled in Seattle.
    Everett, a city of about 108,000 people north of Seattle, sued Purdue Pharma in January, alleging the company knowingly allowed pills to be funneled into the black market and into the city and did nothing to stop it.
    The city argues the drugmaker should be responsible for social and economic costs.

  • Funeral Held For NASCAR Driver Killed In Plane Crash

    BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — Mourners have gathered in Connecticut to say goodbye to a NASCAR driver who died in a plane crash.
    The Hartford Courant reports the funeral for Ted Christopher was held Tuesday at a church in Bristol. A wake Monday night in his hometown of Plainville was attended by 3,500 people.
    The 59-year-old Christopher was a passenger on a plane that crashed in North Branford on Sept. 16. Also killed was the pilot, 81-year-old Charles Dundas.

    SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man has been charged with robbing a bank and later stealing a car with a woman and her two grandchildren inside.
    Hartford police say Lamar McCarthy was arrested Monday after a foot chase and struggle. He faces charges of kidnapping, second-degree robbery and other offenses.
    Police allege McCarthy pulled a grandfather out of his Jeep and kidnapped the grandmother and her two young grandchildren after the robbery in Southington in June.

    CHESHIRE — A Durham man died after he was involved in a crash Tuesday morning. Police were called to a head on crash around 7 a.m. on Yalesville Road near Talmadge Road. Devon A.
