    (NEW BRITAIN,Conn./CBS Connecticut) – New Britain Police responded to 93 Tremont Street Saturday morning on the report of a deceased male.He was found in a first floor apartment shortly after 8:30.He was pronounced  dead at the scene and the death was deemed suspicious in nature.
    New Britain Police, State Police ,the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the New Britain State’s Attorney’s Office are investigating.

    HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – A Connecticut prosecutor is citing executive privilege in declining to answer questions about how he concluded there was no evidence of a homicide in the 2014 case of a lawyer found fatally shot in a wrecked sport utility vehicle.

    They left the ballpark feeling encouraged after sweeping a day-night doubleheader over the New York Mets in front of a combined crowd of more than 60,000 fans in the first professional sporting event in the city since the storm.

  • NTSB Releases Report On Plane Crash That Killed Instructor

     
    NEW MILFORD, Conn. (AP) _ The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on a small plane crash that killed a Connecticut flight instructor and injured two other people.
    The report issued Friday says there were no witnesses to the Aug. 11 crash in New Milford that left 57-year-old co-pilot Anthony Morasco dead. Authorities said the single-engine Cessna 172 crashed near a small private airport after taking off from nearby Danbury Municipal Airport.

    HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Federal authorities in Connecticut say a man is headed to prison for his role in a heroin trafficking ring.
    The U.S. attorney’s office says Erison Peralta was sentenced Friday to more than three years behind bars. He pleaded guilty in March to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, heroin.

    NEW YORK (AP) _ Matt Holliday once again became a bruising designated hitter against his former designated sitter.
    Holliday made a smashing return to the Yankees’ lineup after being sidelined a month, launching a three-run homer that led Masahiro Tanaka and New York over the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox 5-1 Saturday.
    “We’ve missed that,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.
    The Yankees, already holding the top spot in the wild-card race, pulled within 41/2 games of Boston.
