• State Police Investigate Haddam Home Burglary

    (HADDAM,Conn./CBS Connecticut) – State Police are seeking a suspect in a residential burglary Friday. Between 11 am and 1:40 pm a home on Moodus Road was forcibly entered through a rear window.The victim’s credit cards were stolen.
    The suspect is male, black and was driving a white sedan. The victim’s credit cards were later used at the Madison rest area Subway shop on Interstate 95.

  • Ammonia Leak Reported In East Hartford

    EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – East Hartford police say a reported ammonia leak shut down a section of Tolland Street Friday morning.
    The incident was reported around 9:45 a.m.
    Police say Tolland Street was closed between Larrabee Street and Pine Street.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – Police say a 27-year-old man inside a New Haven home has been struck and killed by a bullet that came through the window.
    Officers say Joshua Rivera was struck in the head by the bullet that came through the first-floor window at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

    HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – A Connecticut man associated with the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for orchestrating the vicious gang beating of an extortion victim.
    The Hartford Courant reports Howard Hammer, of New Milford, has pleaded guilty to extortion. The 45-year-old has refused to identify those involved in the assault.
    Records show the Bridgeport chapter of the Hells Angels is suspected in carrying out the assault.

    BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – The Connecticut medical examiner says an over-the-counter medicine led to the death of an infant chronicled on the A&E television show “Live PD.”
    According to the report, Michael Citron died from acute chlorpheniramine intoxication. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine used in medicine brands such as Benadryl, Nytol and Tylenol. The “manner of death” is undetermined.
