    BOSTON (AP) _ Red Sox reliever Matt Barnes has dropped his appeal of a four-game suspension for throwing behind the head of Baltimore’s Manny Machado and will begin serving it Wednesday night.
    Barnes was suspended and fined Monday and had originally said he’d appeal. Manager John Farrell said before the team’s home game against the New York Yankees that the right-hander would start his suspension on Wednesday.

    An arrest warrant was issued for 34-year-old Douglas Rivas the day after Cristobal Hernandez was shot and killed in El Paraiso Restaurant. U.S. Marshals conducted a multi-state manhunt but initially could not find him. Bridgeport police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald says new information lead U.S. Marshals to Rivas in Florida.

    Man Killed In East Hartford Crash
    EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – A man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night on Oak Street in East Hartford.
    Around 7:15 p.m., authorities say two vehicles heading in opposite directions collided– one of them ending up in the backyard of a home. The driver of that vehicle was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s name was not immediately available.

    MANCHESTER, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – Some residents of a Manchester neighborhood aren’t receiving their mail at home anymore because a local dog is reportedly biting the mailmen.
    A notice obtained by WVIT-TV from a local post office says that, due to repeated attacks on letter carriers by a local dog, the postal service will now only deliver mail in a Manchester neighborhood curbside or to the post office.

    (VERNON,Conn./CBS Connecticut)  –   A pizza  delivery driver was assaulted and robbed Tuesday evening in Vernon. It happened  shortly after 6  pm on Spring Street.
    A Vernon  Police K9 attempted to track the suspect,but  the suspect was not found.
    The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
