  NEW YORK (AP) – As expected, the Federal Reserve will hike its key short-term rate.
  It’s the third increase since December 2015 and a show of confidence in that the economy is stable.
  Steady hiring has brought down the unemployment rate to 4.7 percent, while the Fed’s preferred measure of inflation has been moving closer to the central bank’s preferred target of 2 percent.
  By a 9 to 1 vote, Fed officials raised the federal funds rate by a quarter of a point.

  (Newington, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Police in Newington are continuing to investigate an assault in town last week that occurred outside a gas station.
  Around 11:30 last Wednesday, March 8, police say the suspect grabbed the victim who’d been sitting in his personal vehicle and threw him to the ground.

  Daniel Baerga, 83, was hit by a privately owned plow truck contracted for snow removal at the Willow Arms Apartments at 446 Main Street, said police.

• Man Severely Burned In Garage Fire

  PLYMOUTH, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – Police in Connecticut say a garage fire has left a man severely burned.
  Firefighters were called to the village of Terryville around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a fully involved fire in a detached garage.
  Police say they found that the man had left the garage with injuries. He was taken to Waterbury Hospital. It’s unclear what his current condition is.
  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
