    In a letter sent this week, the Democrat asked George Jepsen for his opinion on Connecticut’s chances of winning a lawsuit if the legislation is challenged on constitutional grounds. The letter was released Thursday.

    (CBS Connecticut) — A tree fell on a truck in Columbia this afternoon, as windy weather caused power outages and downed tree limbs around the state.
    Tolland County 911 tweeted that the incident took place on Route 6.  The heavily traveled road was closed late Thursday afternoon.
    State Police say the incident was reported at 2:30 pm.
    Earlier in the day, two people were sent to the hospital after a tree fell on a van on the Wilbur Cross Parkway near the Derby-Orange town line.

    MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP and WTIC) — A former Glastonbury day care director has been sentenced to 150 days in jail for failing to report child abuse.
    Meegan Beach, of Hebron, was sentenced Thursday in Manchester Superior Court. She pleaded guilty in January to two counts of failure to report child abuse and two counts of reckless endangerment. All the charges are misdemeanors.
