    HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s budget office says cost-cutting measures have helped to reduce the current fiscal year’s projected budget deficit by approximately $26 million.
    In a letter released Tuesday to state Comptroller Kevin Lembo, the Democrat’s Office of Policy Management predicts the fiscal year will end June 30 with a $41.6 million operating deficit. Last month, the shortfall was projected to be nearly $68 million.

    (CBS Connecticut) – Former New Haven attorney Terence Hawkins has been sentenced to two years in prison for embezzling from clients.
    State prosecutors say Hawkins, 60, must also make his “best efforts” to pay nearly $415,000 to the state’s Client Security Fund, which was used to reimburse some victims.
    According to arrest documents, Hawkins stole or misappropriated at least $450,000 in client funds.

    Buchholz was the odd man out in a Boston rotation that added Chris Sale this offseason.
    Now 32, Buchholz pitched a no-hitter in 2007 in his second major league game.
    He is a two-time All-Star but he has been inconsistent through his career.
    In all, he is 81-61 with a 3.96 ERA in parts of 10 big league seasons.
