    Tierney Gets 5-Year Extension At University Of Denver
    DENVER (AP) — Bill Tierney, who led the University of Denver to its first NCAA men’s lacrosse championship last season, is getting a contract extension through 2022.
    Tierney is entering his seventh season with the Pioneers. After winning six NCAA titles at Princeton, he’s 83-25 in Denver. Overall, he’s 355-118 in 31 seasons as a head coach.
    His contract had been extended two years ago through the 2017 season.

    DENVER (AP) – Some fire restrictions are being lifted along the Front Range now that October has brought cooler, more fall-like weather.
    A fire ban for western Boulder County was lifted Monday and Jefferson County plans to lift its ban on Tuesday.
    The bans were imposed there and in other nearby counties because of warm and dry conditions during much of September.

    DENVER (CBS4) – A total of 480 goats are being brought in by the truckload to the Roxborough Park neighborhood in southwest Denver to help with fire mitigation.
    Their task is to eat the dry brush and flammable foliage.
    The neighborhood homeowners association pays for the herd to come in annually and the group is convinced it helps prevent wildfires near their houses.

    COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) – Rare black-footed ferrets will be released Monday at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge — a milestone for the highly endangered animals and for the former toxic waste site on the industrial edge of Denver.
    The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans to turn 30 ferrets loose on the 25-square-mile refuge where chemical weapons and pesticides were once manufactured.
    It became a wildlife refuge in 2010 after a $2.1 billion cleanup.

    Denver Police Officer Injured In Car Accident
    DENVER (CBS4) – Two vehicles were involved in an accident at East Warren Avenue and South Downing Street Monday morning.
    It happened around 5:20 a.m., when a Denver police vehicle was struck. The female officer was injured and transported to the hospital. The occupant of the other car involved was not injured.

    PARKER, Colo. (CBS4) – A car crashed into a home on Nashua Circle in Parker just before 4 a.m. Monday. Calls came in to police about a car traveling very fast, including from someone delivering newspapers.
    The car sped onto the property and hit a tree beside the house before crashing into the home, hitting a bedroom where a man was sleeping. The 70-year-old was injured when he was hit by debris and taken to the hospital. His grandson and wife are okay.

    Bottle Bombs Found In Garden Of The Gods Parking Lot
    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Colorado Springs police are investigating after finding chemical bottle bombs in the Garden of the Gods parking lot on Saturday.
    Police and the fire department responded to reports of a chemical spill and that’s when they found bottles filled with chemicals that can produce enough pressure to burst and cause damage.
    The bottles were safely disposed of by the bomb squad.

    NEDERLAND, Colo. (CBS4) – The U.S. Forest Service announced its decision Thursday on the Eldora Mountain Resort Ski Area expansion project.
    After nearly three years of planning, environmental analysis, and public input, the Eldora Mountain Resort proposal for expansion and improvement has been approved.
    The decision applies only to land within the Forest Service’s domain: Eldora consists of 524 acres of National Forest System lands, and 680 acres of private and leased lands.
