• Officials: Teen Accused Of Murdering Mother Back Behind Bars Following Escape

    ORANGE (CBSLA) — Authorities said Friday that the 15-year-old who escaped from an Orange juvenile detention facility, where he was being held on suspicion of murdering his mother, has been captured and returned to custody.
    Ike Souzer had been in custody since 2017. He escaped some time after midnight Thursday.
    Surveillance video showed Souzer favoring his leg as he made his escape. Officials believe he may have suffered a cut to his left leg while escaping from Orange County Juvenile Hall.
  • Former West Covina Mayor Mike Spence Found Dead In Ontario Motel

    ONTARIO (CBSLA) – Mike Spence, the former mayor of West Covina, was found dead in an Ontario motel room Thursday night at the age of 52.
    Ontario police report that Spence was discovered unconscious at around 5:30 p.m. by motel staff in a room in the Folk Inn, located at 204 N. Vineyard Ave. Ontario firefighters responded and declared Spence dead at the scene. Police confirmed to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that the victim was indeed the former West Covina mayor.

    The Los Angeles City Council adjourned its regular meeting Friday in memory of Nipsey Hussle after approving a motion to rename the South L.A. intersection of in honor of the slain rapper.
