    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- 23-year-old Derek Harris, who admitted to running a sex trafficking ring out of an Amherst Motel, was sentenced in State Supreme Court Tuesday.
    Harris will serve 11 years for Sex Trafficking and 2 1/3 to 7 years for two counts of Promoting Prostitution in the 3rd Degree; the sentences will run concurrently.

    JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) – Jamestown Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened early Tuesday morning at the Kwik Fill at 1617 W. Third St.

  • For the first time since the end of the Cold War, Hawaii will test nuclear sirens

    (CNN) – Hawaii is taking those threats from North Korea seriously.Starting Friday, the state will start monthly testing of a nuclear warning siren system aimed at alerting residents to an impending nuclear missile strike. It’s the first such tests in the Aloha State since the end of the Cold War.The test of the nuclear warning siren will be conducted during the monthly tests of the overall statewide warning siren system, according to the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency.

  • Up to $2,500 reward offered for information in February homicide in Buffalo

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Up to a $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the February homicide of a Buffalo man.
    Mario Hayes, pictured, was killed at 8:50 p.m. on Feb. 3 at 116 St. Louis Place.
    Crime Stoppers Buffalo is offering up to $1,000 for information, and the Buffalo Police Department is offering $1,500.

    (WIVB) — New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has released the results of a series of audits, including some which took place in Colden, Franklinville and the Town of Tonawanda.
    In the Town of Colden, highway operations were audited. According to DiNapoli, the superintendent made purchases without soliciting bids or quotes, which is required.

    ATLANTA (AP) — Arby’s is buying casual dining chain Buffalo Wild Wings in a deal worth about $2.4 billion.

    (CBS NEWS) – Popular chain Massage Envy faces allegations of sexual assault – and that it mishandled those claims.
    An investigation by BuzzFeed News found more than 180 women have accused therapists at Massage Envy of groping and other sexual acts.
