    “I was in bed, the phone rang, and it was Andrew. And he said ‘Mom something bad happened,'” Andrew’s mom Martha told News 4.
    That something bad was the fracture of his C5 vertebra.
    The Canisius High junior hit something hard when he jumped into the snow, he’s still not sure what.

    NEW YORK — The NYPD says it is responding to reports of shots fired in lower Manhattan. CBS New York reports that at least five people were injured, but the extent and nature of the injuries is unclear.

  • Fire damages Cattaraugus County barn, county-owned equipment

    MACHIAS, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Franklinville Highway Barn caught fire Monday night, due to an electrical short in a Tandem Axle.
    The fire caused damage to all of the equipment inside, including five tandem axle dump trucks, a loader, and a six-men crew cab pickup truck. Some vehicles only have smoke and heat damage, Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works Commissioner Joseph Pillittere confirmed. One of the tandem axles is totaled.

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) – The woman accused of murdering a mother in Brockport was back in court Tuesday.
    Police say Holly Colino shot and killed 33-year-old Megan Dix on South Avenue in Brockport in August while Dix was sitting in her car.
    On Tuesday, the judge deemed Colino not competent to stand trial. She was ordered to undergo mental health treatment for a year with doctors. If at that time, she is found competent, trial will resume.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A months long Erie County Sheriff’s Office investigation led to the arrest of a Buffalo man on cocaine charges Monday.
    Rashad Fleming, 32, of Buffalo, was arrested Monday by the ECSO’s Narcotics Unit following the two month investigation.
    Fleming is charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell and criminal possession of a narcotic. He was also charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

    SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities were searching for the suspected gunman in a fatal carjacking near the University of Utah that caused a campus-wide lockdown late Monday, police said.
