    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — There’s a petition receiving a lot of traction right now as city residents want to rename and renovate the sole dog park.
    “Why can’t we honor Officer Lehner and Shield in a tribute that would be forever in the City of Buffalo,” says Yvonne White, the dog lover who created the petition. “With the revitalization going on in the city, everything is gorgeous and we should spend money here.”

    Buffalo, N.Y. (WIVB) — A whistleblower lawsuit will lead to Catholic Health paying millions of dollars in fines.
    The US Attorney’s office says Catholic Health system has agreed to pay 6 million dollars to settle a dispute over alleged violations of the false claims act.
    Catholic Health was accused of sending in false medicare claims for rehabilitation therapy services between 2007 and 2014.

  • Bills TE Logan Thomas loses baby daughter

    ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — A member of the Buffalo Bills is grieving the loss of his daughter.
    Tight end Logan Thomas and his wife were expecting a baby this coming April.
    Last night, Thomas posted a picture on Twitter, saying that Brooklynn Rose Thomas was born on Tuesday, but “for whatever reason God was ready to hold our little girl.”
    Thomas is asking for prayers for his family.

  • Motorcyclist hits deer, gets dragged by vehicle on Route 5

    TOWN OF EVANS, N.Y. (WIVB) — Town of Evans police say a motorcyclist hit a deer and was dragged by another vehicle on Route 5 Friday morning.
    According to police, the motorcyclist lost control and was skidding. The operator then ended up under the vehicle behind him, and it started to drag him.
    The motorcyclist was sent to ECMC.
    Police and fire officials were at the scene.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fatal accident occurred on Delaware Ave. near the Route 198 bridge.
    Buffalo police still do not know what caused a driver to lose control of his car overnight.
    The man was partially knocked out of the car when the vehicle hit one of the bridge supports.
    Police say he was heading south at the time.
    The man, who was in his 20s, died at the scene. He has not been identified.

    ALTA VISTA, Iowa – Authorities have charged an Iowa couple with murder in the death of their 4-month-old son, whose maggot-infested body was found in a baby swing in the family’s home.
    Twenty-year-old Cheyanne Harris and 28-year-old Zachary Koehn were arrested Wednesday on charges of child endangerment and first-degree murder in the death of their son, Sterling Koehn. Court records don’t list attorneys for either of them. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 2.
