    CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 14-year-old girl who was injured in an ATV rollover crash in Clarence on Saturday has passed away, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.
    Due to her status as a minor, the sheriff’s office is not releasing her name.

  • Prominent UB alum and donor arrested for alleged opioid scheme

    (CBS/WIVB) – Federal agents arrested the founder of a major drug company- and a prolific UB alumnus and donor- in an early-morning raid Thursday on charges stemming from an alleged scheme to get doctors to prescribe a powerful opioid to patients who don’t need it.
    John Kapoor, 74, was taken into custody in Phoenix, Arizona. Kapoor is the billionaire founder and former CEO of the pharmaceutical company Insys Therapeutics. He faces charges including racketeering, conspiracy and fraud.

    EVANS, N.Y. (WIVB) – Evans Police arrested one suspect from an armed robbery at an Erie Road Credit Union Thursday morning.
    Police have reason to believe that there are two more suspects, Evans Police said Thursday afternoon.
    The robbery occurred around 10:20 a.m. Thursday at the Lake Shore Federal Credit Union, 8766 Erie Road. One male entered the establishment, showed a hand gun, and demanded cash.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police say a man has died after being struck by a vehicle on Monday.
    The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. after police say the man “darted across” the street’s 1900 block.
    His identity has not been revealed, but police say the man was in his 60s.

  • Honolulu’s new law makes texting while crossing the street illegal

    HONOLULU, Hawaii (WKRG) — The capital of Hawaii has passed a law that makes it illegal to use your phone while crossing the street.
    The law taking effect in Honolulu on Wednesday prohibits use of an electronic device while crossing a street or highway within city limits.
    Pedestrians can be hit with a fine up to $35 for their first offense, according to the new law.
    A second violation comes with a $75 fine and a third would carry a $99 fine.
