• Motion Picture Academy expels movie mogul Harvey Weinstein

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been revoked by its board.
    The decision was reached Saturday in an emergency session. It comes after recent reports by The New York Times and The New Yorker that revealed sexual harassment and rape allegations against Weinstein going back decades. The move by the Academy is virtually unprecedented.

    BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB)- A man was rushed to ECMC with serious injuries Friday night after being stabbed in the throat.
    The Genesee County Sheriff’s office says the stabbing happened around 9:30 Friday night behind a shopping plaza on Veterans Memorial Drive.
    According to officials, after the man was stabbed he walked to a parking lot on Park Road where a good Samaritan called for help. Deputies administered first aid to the man until Mercy Medics arrived.

    Jefferey L. Barr was arrested Saturday night.  He is facing Second Degree Attempted Murder charges — this is a Class “B” Violent Felony.
    Barr is being held with out bail in the Genesee County Jail.

    LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) – An employee at Baker Victory Services in Lackawanna is on indefinite leave after being charged with child endangerment and possession of marijuana.
    The employee was a staff member at Baker Victory, which provides programs and housing for children and teens.
    Police stopped a car the worker and a teenager were in on Hopkins Street.
