• Police looking for Hamburg teenager Abigail Russell

    TOWN OF HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB)- Town of Hamburg Police are working to locate 15-year-old Abigail Russell.
    Russell was last seen in her Hamburg home around 9 p.m. Friday night. Police believe she left her home on her own free will shortly after that. 
    Abigail is 5’1″ tall, about 115 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.
    Anyone who has seen her or has information of her whereabouts is asked to contact the Town of Hamburg Police at 716-649-3800 ex 0.

  • City of Tonawanda police search for man who assaulted grocery store employee

    CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB)- City of Tonawanda Police are investigating an assault that happened Wednesday night at a grocery store.
    Police say the man pictured above assaulted a Tops employee following a dispute centered around a debit card. He then fled, possibly getting into a gray Chrysler 200.
    The suspect is a black male and approximately 6 feet tall.
    Anyone with information is asked to call City of Tonawanda Detectives at 692-2121 ext 308.

    SEATTLE (AP) — Police arrested rapper Nelly early Saturday after a woman said he raped her in a town outside Seattle, an accusation the Grammy winner’s attorney staunchly denied.
    Auburn police spokesman Commander Steve Stocker said Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was in jail Saturday after being arrested in his tour bus at a Walmart.   • Single-car crash in Orleans County kills one man

    TOWN OF MURRAY, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Saturday morning single-vehicle fatal accident.
    According to deputies, around 6:45 a.m. a vehicle traveling northbound on Fancher Road went off the east side of the road, down a ditch, and traveled along the ditch until striking a culvert pipe.
    Deputies say the male driver was transported to Strong West Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:21 a.m.

    LONDON (AP) — British emergency services raced to London’s Natural History Museum after a car struck pedestrians Saturday outside the building.   • Community leaders monitoring UB’s late night weekend shuttle

  • Starting Saturday, those convicted of non-violent crimes will be eligible to have crimes sealed

    NEW YORK (WIVB) – Individuals who have remained crime-free for ten years will be able to request that certain New York State convictions be sealed starting Saturday.
    A provision in New York’s “Raise the Age” law will allow eligible individuals to seal up to two misdemeanor convictions, one misdemeanor and one felony conviction, or one felony conviction.
    To be eligible, individuals must have no convictions on their record for at lease ten years and have no charges pending.
  • Free child seat safety checks offered in October

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The New York State DMV will offer free child car seat inspections to parents and caregivers in Erie, Monroe, and Wyoming County during the month of October.
    The car seat inspections will be conducted by certified child passenger safety technicians at several locations across Western New York.

  • Four pounds of marijuana, over $3,000 cash found in Alden home

    ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) – A two-month Narcotics Unit investigation culminated in the arrest of a Village of Alden man Friday morning.
    The Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the Exchange Street residence of Joseph Jurek, 28, at 7:30 a.m. Friday.
    Narcotics Unit member recovered about four pounds of marijuana and $3,800 in cash.
    Jurek was charged with a felony county of criminal possession of marijuana, as well as endangering the welfare of a child due to the fact that Jurek’s
