• Several people injured following ride malfunction at Darien Lake on Saturday

     TOWN OF DARIEN, N.Y. (WIVB)- Darien Lake’s Silver Bullet ride successfully completed it’s daily inspection on Sunday morning.
    The ride reopened to the public after several people were hurt following a malfunction when bringing the ride to a stop on Saturday.
    Viewer video shows seat carts on the ride swinging back and forth which is not how the ride usually runs. The viewer who took the video tells News 4 that he heard people on the ride screaming.

  • ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ host, philanthropist Monty Hall dies

    BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Monty Hall, the genial TV game show host whose long-running “Let’s Make a Deal” traded on love of money and merchandise and the mystery of which door had the car behind it, has died. He was 96.
    Hall, who had been in poor health, died Saturday morning of heart failure at his home in Beverly Hills, said his daughter, Sharon Hall of Los Angeles.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The SUNY community is mourning the loss of a long-time educator.
    Elizabeth Capaldi Phillips passed away at her Gainesville, Florida home last week after battling brain cancer for the past year.
    She served as University at Buffalo provost and eventually became chief of staff of the SUNY system.
     
     
  • 2 Hurt in Wheatfield Crash

    WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) – Niagara County Sheriff’s say two people were hurt in a head-on crash in the Town of Wheatfield.
    It happened on River Road Near Sunset Drive around 11:30 p.m. Friday night.
    Officials tell us a man driving eastbound crossed the center line and drove into the path of a car going westbound.
    The 25-year-old man from North Tonawanda and 68-year-old woman, also from North Tonawanda had to be cut out of their cars.

    KENT, OH (WIVB) – The UB football team was forced to begin MAC play without starting quarterback Tyree Jackson, who suffered a knee injury last week in a win over Florida Atlantic. Jackson did travel to Kent State with the Bulls.
