  • Retaining wall at Olcott Yacht Club collapses

    OLCOTT, N.Y. (WIVB)- The steel retaining wall at the Olcott Yacht Club collapsed around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
    Niagara County Chief Information Officer, Christian Peck says this is most likely the result of springtime flooding due to elevated lake levels.
    Peck says the collapse has caused “widespread destabilization of the land adjacent to the main building”.
    The Yacht Club is located at 1535 Van Buren.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – With Tuesday’s deadline to trim the roster to 23 on the horizon, the Sabres sent forwards Justin Bailey and Nick Deslauriers along with defenseman Taylor Fedun to Rochester, while also releasing defenseman Cody Goloubef.

  • Parent accuses high school football coach of hitting player

    ANGOLA, N.Y. –– Parents in the Lake Shore School District are calling for a football coach to be fired after they say he hit one of his players.
    Craig Hutchinson’s son Branden is a junior at Lake Shore High School and plays varsity football. He says his 16 year old son is used to getting hit on the field.

  • Whole Foods investigating credit hack

    (CBS) – Whole Foods is investigating a breach of customer credit information at some of its stores.
    The company said Friday that it “received information regarding unauthorized access of payment card information” at the checkouts of in-store restaurants and bars, known as “taprooms,” at a number of its locations. The company did not say how many stores were affected or where they are located. More than 40 Whole Foods stores also serve beer on tap.
