• Buffalo woman pleads guilty to manslaughter in 1983 death of WWI veteran

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of a 92-year-old World War I veteran in 1983.
    Saundra Adams, 51, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter just a day into jury selection in her trial.
    Adams, a former librarian, was charged in Sept. 2016 following a cold case investigation into the death of 92-year-old Edmund Screiber.
    Adams faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when she is sentenced Nov. 6.

    (CNN) – It’s going to be a little harder to find a Gap or Banana Republic store — but expect to see more Old Navy and Athleta locations pop up.
    Gap (GPS), the parent company of all of those brands, said Wednesday that it plans to close about 200 “underperforming” Gap and Banana Republic locations.

    ST. JOHN’S, Antigua (AP) — As Hurricane Irma continues to roar across the Caribbean on a path toward Florida, a new tropical storm has formed in the Gulf of Mexico.

    The Bailey Avenue bridge project is about 75 percent complete.
    City leaders plan to have it done by early December.

    WESTMINSTER, Vt. (AP) — John “Jack” Keil, the advertising executive who led the team that created McGruff the Crime Dog and who voiced the character, has died.
    Keil died Aug. 25 at home in Westminster West, Vermont, his family said. He was 94.

  • Two people ejected from vehicle following accident in Newfane

    NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two people were ejected from a vehicle in a two-vehicle crash on East Lake Road Tuesday afternoon.
    According to Niagara County Sheriff’s reports, investigation shows that a westbound vehicle had crossed over the center median on East Lake Road, striking a vehicle that was eastbound. The eastbound vehicle rolled several times, coming to rest on the lawn south of the roadway on its roof.
