    DARIEN CENTER, N.Y. (WIVB) – As the weather grows cooler, Darien Lake prepares for its third annual “Harvest Festival”.
    The event will run the last three weekends in September, including Sept. 16, 17, 23, 30, and Oct. 1. After Oct. 1, the park will close for the season.

  • Ballowe released early from jail after fatal accident

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The woman who fatally struck Barry Moss in Evans, and left the scene, was released early from jail.
    In December, Gabriele Ballowe, 51, was sentenced to one year in jail after an incident from three years before then.
    Moss, 52, was struck by Ballowe’s vehicle while she was driving on Route 5. She later pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an incident without reporting resulting in serious physical injury.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — As the season approaches, it appears that star forward Jack Eichel will begin the year without a contract extension, a source familiar with the negotiations told News 4 Sports Reporter Nick Filipowski.

  • Hamburg home where tractor trailer crashed is torn down

    HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) — A house in Hamburg that was hit by a tractor trailer earlier this year has been torn down.
    The home on Highland Parkway was condemned after the crash in May.
    Police say the driver of the truck suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel, causing him to drive off the road and into the house.
    No one was in the home at the time of the crash.

  • Garage fire spreads to home on Summit Ave.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Investigators are looking into what sparked a garage fire that spread to a home in Buffalo.
    Flames broke out at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in a garage on Summit Ave.
    Authorities say the garage was fully involved by the time they arrived on scene.
    A firefighter had to be treated for heat exhaustion.
    No other injuries were reported.
  • Buffalo police arrest more than 120 people in string of drug raids

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police arrested more than 120 people during a string of successful drug raids.
    The raids happened over 46 days in July and August.
    Police seized 30 guns, four kilograms of cocaine, 250 lbs. of marijuana, 35 pounds of khat, large amounts of heroin, fentanyl, pills and crack and more than $156,000.
    Authorities say tips from people who called 311 helped with getting the drugs and guns off the streets.

    GOWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Due to a power outage, Gowanda Central Schools are closed on Tuesday.
    Tuesday was supposed to be the first day of school for students.
    Pine Valley schools were delayed by two hours due to downed trees.
    As of 7 a.m., more than 2,100 customers were without power in Cattaraugus County and nearly 1,300 were without power in Erie County.

    NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVB)- Multiple agencies are searching for missing kayakers on Lake Ontario.
    The Somerset Police Department tells us three young men left from the Golden Hill State Park boat launch around noon on Monday. They were each in their own kayak.
