• Niagara Falls Water Board says blackish water in Niagara River was result of routine maintenance

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB)- Those visiting Niagara Falls on Saturday were surprised to see black water in the Niagara River.
    Video tweeted from the Maid of the Mist Twitter account shows dark water surrounding the boat launch site below the falls.
    The Niagara Falls Water Board tells News 4 that the substance discharged was a result of routine maintenance of one of the water board’s wastewater sedimentation basins located at the Waste Water Treatment Plant on Buffalo Avenue.

  • 29-year-old man arrested in connection to 2-alarm fire in Allentown

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- Firefighters responded to an apartment building blaze on Franklin Street just before 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
    A second-alarm was called shortly after the 5 unit apartment building caught fire and spread to a neighboring structure on Allen.
    8 occupants escaped the building, 2 more were rescued by firefighters from Engine 2.
    The Red Cross is assisting 10 adults.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- Crews are currently on scene of a two-alarm fire in the Allentown District.
    They responded to a 5 unit apartment building on Franklin and Allen just before 8 a.m. A second-alarm was called shortly after.
    10 occupants were safely removed from the building. The Red Cross is also on site assisting residents displaced by the blaze.

  • Man injured in early morning east side shooting

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Police are investigating an early morning shooting on Harmonia Street between Walden Avenue and Sycamore Street.
    It happened around 1:15am. One man was struck by gunfire and was taken to ECMC where he was treated for his injuries. It’s unclear how severe his injuries are or who was involved.
    We will follow up with Buffalo Police as we learn more.
