  • Police: One-armed, machete-wielding clown arrested

    HOLLIS, Maine (AP) — A man accused of drunkenly strolling down a road in Maine wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and a clown mask and brandishing a machete taped to his amputated arm has been arrested.
    Maine State Police told WCSH-TV (http://on.wcsh6.com/2uZu4Db ) that 31-year-old Corey Berry, of Hollis, was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal threatening. He was released after posting $200 bail.

  • Driver hospitalized after crashing into parked trailer

    PEMBROKE, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Genesee County Sheriff’s office says a driver struck a construction trailer in Pembroke on Wednesday morning.
    Shortly after 8 a.m., the driver, who was identified as a 39-year-old woman, was on Hopkins Rd. when she hit the trailer.
    Part of it was parked in her lane, and no vehicle was attached to it, according to sources.

    WASHINGTON (AP) — House Majority Whip Steve Scalise — who was critically wounded in a shooting at a baseball practice last month — has been discharged from a Washington hospital.
    MedStar Washington Hospital Center says the six-term Louisiana Republican was released from the hospital on Tuesday and is beginning “intensive inpatient rehabilitation.”

    LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Erie County has big plans to bring new life to the old Bethlehem Steel plant in Lackawanna.

    PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — A 71-year-old Port Angeles woman and her dog were found thirsty and hungry, but alive and well, after being stranded for nearly a week in Olympic National Park.
