    EVANS, N.Y. (WIVB) – The July 3 fireworks display at Lake Erie Beach Park has been canceled.
    The Town of Evans said that their annual fireworks display has been canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
    Lake Erie Task Force committee member Michael Slawinski posted on Facebook that the town hopes to have another fireworks display at the beach next Independence Day.

    HALSTAD, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota woman charged with fatally shooting her boyfriend in a failed YouTube video stunt foreshadowed the event when she tweeted that it would be “one of the most dangerous videos ever.”
    Monalisa Perez, of Halstad, was charged Wednesday with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Pedro Ruiz III. Perez, who is pregnant, was released on $7,000 bail. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — The SPCA serving Niagara County has taken in two emaciated dogs in the last two days.
    One of them, originally called “Precious,” has been renamed “Bedelia.”
    “That was the name her owners gave her and as you can see she was clearly “precious” to them,” the SPCA wrote in a Facebook post.
    Bedelia was ridden with fleas and parasites, but despite her physical state, she was very friendly to SPCA officials.

    Family members of 7-year-old Kaden Mitchell say he had surgery on Monday and again Wednesday, but the wound is not healing and appears infected.
