    South Buffalo School briefly evacuated for natural gas smell
    SOUTH BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Notre Dame Academy at Abbott Road near Dorrance was briefly evacuated Tuesday after a strong odor of natural gas filled the building.
    Students and staff were escorted outside for about an hour until the smell dissipated.
    The smell originated from work being done by National Fuel on a major gas line  in the area. the entire neighborhood smelled like natural gas.

    East Aurora man pleads guilty to sex act involving a minor
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – An East Aurora man has pleaded guilty to performing an oral sexual act on a  six-year-old child.
    Charles Ernst, 34, of East Aurora, pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree criminal sex act in Erie County Court.
    Ernst faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced 9:30 a.m. July 5. Ernst will also have to register as a sex offender upon release.

    Daren Alexis, 33, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty in the case just as jury selection began for his trial in State Supreme Court.
    Alexis fatally shot 26-year-old Jadero Kelley of Buffalo on Aug. 5, 2016, in the vicinity of 128 French St.
    Alexis previously pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Ride-sharing services will touch down in Western New York June 29, in time for Independence Day weekend.
    The original start date for ride-sharing services in Western New York was July 9. Both the state Senate and the state House of Assembly drafted legislation to allow the services to start ten days earlier to help curtail drinking and driving over the holiday weekend.
