    Erie County Legislature wants ride-sharing by Fourth of July holiday
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Members of the Erie County Legislature want ride-sharing services available in time for America’s birthday.
    The current start date for allowing ride-sharing services in upstate New York is July 8. The date is 90 days after New York State enacted legislation approving ride-sharing for upstate.
    The Erie County Legislature passed a unanimous resolution Thursday to petition New York State to revise the start to include the Independence Day holiday.

    PORTVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Portville woman is facing charges after New York State Police say she claimed to be her sister during a traffic stop.
    Kelly M .Crawford, 36, was charged with second degree criminal impersonation, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and vehicle and traffic violations Wednesday.
    Crawford was stopped on ST-417 for speeding and tinted windows and did not have a driver’s license or photo ID with her at the time of the stop.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Erie County will receive $16 million in funding from New York State to help combat the opiate epidemic which has already claimed 55 lives in 2017.
    New York State has allotted $213 million in the state budget for opiate crisis services statewide.

    The products may contain hard plastic or rubber pieces used as golf ball materials. The materials may have been “inadvertently harvested with potatoes,” McCain says.

    DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Dunkirk man has been charged with selling drugs to undercover law enforcement officers.
    Angel Lopez, 28, was arrested on a warrant in Mayville. He was charged with criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance after authorities say he sold heroin to the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force on multiple occasions.

    Early morning fire causes $40,000 in damage
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Crews will be busy Thursday trying to figure out what caused an early morning fire.
    They rushed to a fire at an apartment complex on Oakmont Ave. off of Edison around 3:30 a.m.

    DEPEW, N.Y. (WIVB)- 27-year-old Michael Mohl is fighting for his life after being hit by a pick-up truck while riding his bike with his brother, 25-year-old Phil Mohl.
    “He’s in critical condition right now, he’s in the ICU Trauma Unit at ECMC with a broken back and bleeding on the brain,” said their sister Lisa.
