    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – One of the most significant pop artists of the 1960s bequeathed her entire estate to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the museum director revealed Tuesday.

    Coast Guard rescues boats headed toward brink of Falls
    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — The U.S. Coast Guard was called out Monday night to rescue two boats headed toward the brink of Niagara Falls.
    The rescue call came in at about 7:30 p.m. from a man on Cayuga Island who spotted them floating near the American Falls past the North Grand Island Bridge.
    The Coast Guard contacted the Erie County Sheriff’s department, which launched its rescue helicopter as a precaution.
    The Coast Guard was able to reach both boats and tow them to shore.

    WELLSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A huge sinkhole opened up in the driveway of a family’s home in Allegany County and swallowed their car.
    The picture below was taken by Bob Toney of the Wellsville Daily Reporter. He says his stepson’s car fell in the hole after last Thursday’s heavy rains, and had to be towed out.
    No one was inside the car at the time of the incident.

    Teen who helped start fatal Lockport fire sentenced to probation
    LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — The teenager involved in the fatal Lockport fire from last summer was sentenced to one year of probation.
    The 14-year-old, who remains unnamed, faced a slew of charges, including criminally negligent homicide. He only admitted to two crimes — arson and burglary.
    More than 36 hours were spent fighting the fire at the HTI tire plant in August. The blaze resulted in the death of another 14-year-old, the teen’s friend Joseph Phillips.

    MEDINA, N.Y. (WIVB) — The founder of the Medina Railroad Museum has passed away, the museum announced Tuesday.
    Marty Phelps passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75. He had been battling cancer.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A convicted sex offender accused of molesting a fellow Buffalo nursing home resident was in court Tuesday.
    A judge ordered 62-year-old Thomas Moore to take another mental health exam.
    Moore’s attorney said that the last mental health exam Moore took determined that he was incapable of standing trial. By law, an individual needs two forensic exams to prove that they are not capable of standing trial.

    EDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — This past Thursday, authorities say Wayne Kozak, 48, killed his 79-year-old mother in the Eden home they share.
    According to officials, Mary Louise Kozak had been fatally shot and was found just before 4 p.m.
    Eden Police Chief Mike Felschow said the incident was Eden’s first murder in more than 30 years.
