    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Raising the age of criminal responsibility has been a longstanding goal in Albany.
    Sunday, the New York Senate officially gave it the stamp approval in the 2017-2018 budget. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the measure Monday.
    It will be implemented in phases; by October of 2019 the age of criminal responsibility in New York will be 18.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo residents Larry Durham Jr., 15, Aaron Gallon, 18, and Armontae Moss, 16, admitted to attempted murder after stomping a 64-year-old man this past September.
    Prosecutors say the incident occurred at Ellicott St. and Broadway. The stomping severely injured the man, as he suffered head trauma and skull fractures.
    Gallon and Moss pleaded guilty on Friday, but Durham’s plea was announced Monday.

    TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — City of Tonawanda police say they found a man driving drunk with a flat tire on Monday morning.
    North Tonawanda resident Joseph Masich, 69, was pulled over near Tonawanda High School around 11:30 a.m. after callers reported a driver who was “all over the road.”

    Niagara Falls man admits to assaulting 3-year-old
    LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara Falls man has admitted to assaulting a 3-year-old.
    Desmond Bitting, 25, could spend a minimum of five years in jail for harming the boy. The maximum amount of time he could be sentenced for second-degree assault is seven years.
    He will be sentenced on June 12.
    Bitting previously served time related to weapon possession in 2010 and served another sentence for assault in 2014.

    CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Cheektowaga Police say an 18-year-old drowned around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in a pool at the Millennium Hotel.
    Cheektowaga Assistant Police Chief Jim Speyer tells News 4, the victim was swimming with a group of people when it happened.
    He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital on Harlem Road, but police say he died at the hotel.
    The cause of the drowning is under investigation. The victim’s name will not be released until all family is notified.
