    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Skyway will be closed to commercial traffic from 2:30 – 11 p.m. Tuesday night.
    The closure comes in anticipation of high winds, with expected gusts that could reach up to 60 MPH.
    “With the threat of high winds and dangerous driving conditions this afternoon and tonight, I am closing the Skyway to commercial vehicles for the safety of all travelers,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

    Buffalo police: Driver overdoses, crashes into another vehicle
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police say a driver overdosed and crashed on Monday night.
    According to police, a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on Church St. near Bingham St. around 7:40 p.m.
    The driver lost control as a result of the overdose, police say. He was taken to local hospitals.
    Emergency responders had to use NarCan at the scene.
    Police are awaiting toxicology results. No charges have been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.

    ANGOLA, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Erie County Sheriff’s deputy helped put out a fire he spotted in Angola on Sunday.
    Authorities say Deputy Gary Mosier was driving along Old Lake Shore Rd. when he saw thick, black smoke coming from a residence.
    Using the fire extinguisher in his patrol vehicle, Mosier tried to put out a truck engine fire at the scene. The extinguisher’s contents were exhausted.
    Mosier continued assisting at the scene by helping the elderly homeowners evacuate.

    DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two employees of a Dunkirk manufacturing plant were charged with illegally possessing a handgun Monday afternoon.
    Dunkirk police showed up to the plant, which has not been named, around 5:45 p.m. after receiving a report of employees who had a gun.
    The Dunkirk men, Christian Marin-Sanchez, 29, and Hector Carmona-Burgos, 44, were patted down. A loaded 9mm pistol was found in the front pocket of one of the men, police say.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Habitat for Humanity has been building and refurbishing homes for more than three decades now, and Monday, they celebrated a milestone.
    Valu Home Centers and their employees are taking part in helping build the 300th house, which is located on Wende St. in the City of Buffalo.
    Over the years, the hardware store has contributed more than $3 million dollars to Habitat for Humanity’s projects.
