    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) launched in 2010 to clean-up the Great Lakes, revitalize its ecosystem, and combat invasive species.
    The initiative relies on federal money, mainly through the Environmental Protection Agency.
    Many lawmakers, including those in western New York, fear reported budget cuts to the EPA would shatter the GLRI.

    As of 11 p.m., thousands of customers were without power. Here are how many were reported by county between NYSEG and National Grid:

    Contractor accused of scheming to defraud customers in Wyoming County
    WARSAW, N.Y. (WIVB) — A contractor hired to do work around Wyoming County was charged with scheming to defraud customers.
    The Wyoming County Sheriff’s office says Dennis Rawleigh Jr., 46, did business as Rawleigh’s Tear Down, but did not do the work he was paid for.
    In November, authorities say Rawleigh received more than $15,000 from a Gainesville woman to perform work on two houses she owns. One of those houses was in Perry.

    NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Crews are working to put a derailed CSX freight train back on the tracks at a New York railroad crossing where it collided with a forklift.

    BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fire in Batavia led to the evacuation of an elementary school.

    Altogether, Schneiderman says the companies illegally sold nearly 2,000 toy guns across New York.

    Amherst police say Tonawanda resident Anthony Rauch, 34, was crossing at the intersection of Maple Rd. when he was hit in the third lane just before 11 p.m.
    The traffic light was green for the northbound vehicle.
    Police say the intersection was dark and that light rain had made the pavement wet.
    Rauch was taken to ECMC with a serious leg injury, and injuries to his head.

    Alexis Say, who is originally from Western New York, went missing in Miami January 23rd. Say grew up in Pembroke and moved to Miami in October of last year.
